I grew up not too far from here in Columbia and Chapin. I spent 16 years in and around Charleston SC. I've lived in some other places relatively short term: Bozeman MT, Stowe VT, Keene NH, and Maui HI. I always seem to return to my roots and would't live any other place. Perhaps it's the sound of cicadas, the weather, or the people, but the Carolinas always feel like home. It's fun to travel, but moving is tiring and disruptive so I'm hoping to move only **one** more time in my lifetime.

+I like to run my dog [Iris](/notes/dogs/iris) but I don't like to run. I started running her alongside of my bike at soon as I was very confident in recall because of the danger of cars. Luckily I leave at the intersection of two cul-de-sacs and it's quiet a good bit. It started because I have a neighbor who runs his dog on rides and now we take em out together. Iris loves to run and the bike is the only way I can keep up. It's a daily pastime now.
